About this Property
HISTORY

The New York Palace possesses a prestigious heritage. More than a century ago, Henry Villard, one of the nation's most prominent financiers, commissioned McKim, Mead & White to create a residence of singular style. Constructed in 1882, that residence became known as The Villard Houses. Over the next century, the residence would change from private homes to offices for the Archdiocese and later, corporate offices for internationally known companies.

In the mid-1970s, the Archdiocese of New York, owners of the land, cleared the way for a hotel development that would incorporate this unique property, gracefully blending the landmark 1882 Villard Houses with a contemporary 55-story tower. The hotel opened in 1980 as The Helmsley Palace.

The New York Palace recently completed an all-encompassing $140-million renovation project that transformed a landmark architectural gem into the premier modern hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The 18-month renovation project rethought, upgraded, and perfected every aspect of your experience at this legendary destination - upscale accommodations, distinctive dining destinations and extraordinary event spaces all received intuitive updates. Through this perfect blend of past and present, the legacy of this historic New York City hotel continues, providing residents and guests with a distinctive experience at a truly iconic New York City hotel.

THE TOWERS JEWEL APARTMENT

Created in collaboration with acclaimed jewelry designer Martin Katz, the multifaceted Jewel Suite by Martin Katz encompasses 5,000 square feet in an extravagant triplex, one of New York's most imaginative and opulent spaces. Radiant, Art Deco-inspired elements anchor the aesthetic, reflecting the rich glamour of the early Twentieth Century against sweeping views of the dramatic Manhattan skyline.

The entry and grand staircase celebrate light and reflection with a two-story cascading crystal chandelier in sculptural harmony with floating jewelry displays showcasing Katz creations valued in excess of $1.5 million. Each piece of jewelry is one-of-a-kind or limited in production, signed, numbered and made with meticulous attention to detail. Martin's passion for gems has earned him wide acclaim for designing beautifully-crafted, couture-quality pieces inspired from his love of vintage jewelry - contemporary pieces with an 'old soul'.

Port Laurent stone flooring and diamond-esque wall coverings compliment panel drapery in the adjacent double height Grand Parlor, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide breathtaking views of Midtown Manhattan. Sensual jewel-toned furnishings, dramatic wall art and a magnificent grand piano make this an ideal space for entertaining or relaxing in intimacy. The mirrored-wall dining room features a hand-blown chandelier and a Katz-created glass mosaic, providing comfortable seating for ten.

On the second floor, grand master and guest bedrooms adorned in rich hues exude opulence and subtle romance. Calcutta Tucci marble and polished black absolute granite make the master bath a personal sanctuary. A sumptuous boudoir includes a Lucite tableau showcasing spectacular jewels. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors accommodate a large display of fashions for styling and showing.

A quiet, romantic hideaway awaits on the third floor terrace level, complete an extra large great room with an historic wood-burning fireplace and atrium-style glass walls. An enormous outdoor terrace features an elevated stone spa and green space, where guests may enjoy entertaining, dining and a dip in your own Jacuzzi-a one-of-a-kind urban escape with million-dollar views.
